Project Description:
The LEND program is a Maternal Child Health Bureau sponsored program derived originally to produce leaders in maternal and child health across diverse disciplines of health professionals. While the actual program is situated at USC UCEDD and configured to involve 300 hours of several different didactic methods, faculty from the program have sporadically brought pieces of this curriculum to the pediatric residents in the form of noon conferences. We have collected feedback forms from residents participating in LEND didactic conferences over a decade. These forms were anonymous and voluntarily elicited from trainees using a templated form at the time of completion of the presentations. Trainees self-selected whether they wanted to complete the forms. We are conducting a qualitative analysis to answer whether trainees are setting learning goals that move them further in systems-based practice, the ACGME competency. We also want to identify whether trainees are citing new areas of knowledge that they derive as a consequence of these conferences, particularly those involving non-pediatrician faculty. Lastly we want to tailor our curriculum to fit knowledge gaps that the trainees identify.
