Medicaid Managed Care and Aging with Physical Disabilities

This proposal builds on an existing evaluation of a Medicaid Managed Care program in Illinois by extending the evaluation for five years for people with physical disabilities aged 50 and older. The research design includes an analysis of Medicaid encounter data and survey data for each year of the managed care program. Medicaid Managed Care is designed to increase preventive care, screenings, and care coordination for Medicaid beneficiaries to improve health and reduce hospital and emergency room visits for the population while reducing expenditures on healthcare. The research design will assess whether these have occurred.
