Project Description:
This study will be used to determine the face validity of the Child Oral Health Impact Profile-Preschool (COHIP-PS), a recently created item pool to measure the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and related family functioning in preschool children with cleft, as well as a sample of children without cleft who are seeking dental treatment as a comparison group. As a recognized parameter across health conditions, QoL assessment is a key measurable outcome. To date, there is no valid assessment of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) for preschool children with orofacial conditions. This study is the first phase to validate the COHIP-Preschool (COHIP-PS), a measure of OHRQoL for preschool children and family impact for their CGs. This instrument will fill an important gap in OHRQoL assessment and patient-oriented outcomes for children with craniofacial conditions. This study addresses the first steps of evaluating the item pool of the COHIP-PS.
