Incredible Years in Primary Care
Project Description:
This study will utilize a multiple-baseline across subjects design to investigate the effectiveness of the Incredible Years (IY) Preschool Basic Parent Program on target behavioral and pediatric outcomes and to identify treatment components which are most effective in producing change in the target behaviors. Three to five participants ages 3 to 6 years and their parents will be recruited and will participate in the IY program located at CHLAs Child Development Center. Baseline data will be collected for 2-3 weeks prior to the initiation of treatment and intervention phase data will be collected through the duration of the IY program (18-20 weeks). Mid-point data will be collected after Session 7 of the intervention. Follow-up data will be collected 2-weeks post treatment. It is hypothesized that: a) positive behaviors and positive health indicators will increase and negative child behaviors and parental stress will decrease for parents; b) problem behaviors will demonstrate more significant decreases in frequency during the first half of the program when contrasted with changes taking place in the second half of the program.
