Recruitment of Latino Families
Project Description:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a clinically complex lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests in the early years. Even though the causes of ASD are unknown, the evidence suggests that genetic and environmental effects contribute to a biological susceptibility. Despite the explosion of genetic research in autism, minority populations are not often represented in these studies. This study has the purpose of describing effective strategies in recruiting minorities in genetic research. This investigation will examine information about the research participants ethnicity, recruitment sources, and recruitment strategies used, and determine if any of these variables will predict which participants will complete the study procedures for the genetic research study.
