The mission of the Center for Disabilities Studies is to enhance the lives of individuals and families through education, prevention, service, and research related to disabilities. We promote independence and productivity so individuals and families can fully participate in the life of their communities in Delaware and beyond. The Center for Disabilities Studies is instrumental in advancing a national agenda that embraces human diversity arising from conditions that impact physical, sensory, and intellectual functioning. Our work seeks to ensure that people with disabilities have access to and can benefit from opportunities to learn, work, and participate fully in the communities of their choice, and that society recognizes the unique contributions of all its members and strives to eliminate physical, economic, and attitudinal barriers. We are uniquely positioned to bring the full power of the Universitys intellectual resources to bear on real‐world issues that impact individuals across the lifespan.
