Project Description:
Need: Research consistently indicates that individuals with disabilities are often underemployed or unemployed after exiting high school. Goals/Objectives: This programs focus on teaching participants to take charge of their life and be an active participant in determining their career options and learning important soft skills necessary to achieve/maintain employment. Unusual features: We strive to make our courses unique from other employment preparatory courses currently offered. We have designed our courses to be active learning with the participants leaving with skills and products they can put to use after exiting our program; we aim to have a mutually collaborative relationship with local businesses to provide internship experiences. Expected benefits: Increased knowledge and skills related to career awareness, career preparation/job development, and career soft skills.
