Fiscal Year:

Project Description:
Need: Research consistently indicates that individuals with disabilities are often not prepared to successfully transition from high school to the adult world, resulting in underemployed or unemployed after exiting high school. Goals/Objectives: This programs focus on teaching participants to take charge of their life and be an active participant in determining their career options and learning important soft skills necessary to achieve/maintain employment. Unusual features: We strive to make our courses unique from other Pre-ETS courses currently offered. We have designed our courses to be a wraparound learning experience with a students current transition services/plan; we aim to have a mutually collaborative relationship with the schools without duplicating any IDEA responsibilities. Expected benefits: Each course results in an individualized student product/outcome related to the content learned for that course. Students will also be taught to track completion of their own work for each course and will share their own outcomes at team meetings. At the end of the semester, the students will have a complete binder with all products (e.g., vocational profile, job development template, elevator speech, video interview critique, self-management plan and data sheet, goal sheets, etc).
