UA-William Billy Gieszl Pediatric/Congenital Heart Disease Award
Project Description:
This project will describe the cognitive and psychosocial profile of adolescents (15 20), early adults (21 25) and older adults (>25) with CHD. Individuals will be selected from UA/BUMG Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology clinics and will be evaluated clinically for executive function performance, DSM V assessments and brain MRI, as well as completion of self-report, caregiver report, and unstructured interviews to collect a complete picture of the deficits, concerns, and outcomes across age groups. The benefits of this project include filling a critical gap in the literature highlighted by two major heart associations and generate the pilot results needed to fund a larger study of national significance.
