Project Description:
ILRU (Independent Living Research Utilization), NCIL (National Council on Independent Living), APRIL (Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living), Utah State University Center for Persons with Disabilities (USU CPD), and other key stakeholders will establish the Statewide Independent Living Council Training & Technical Assistance (SILC T&TA) Center. The goal of the project is to expand and maintain access of SILCs to current, accurate, and timely information, expertise, and technical assistance that support their purpose of improving IL outcomes for persons with significant disabilities. Objectives are to: 1) promote overall efficiency and effectiveness of SILCs in performing SILC duties and responsibilities; 2) update and expand the body of expert SILC information and resources; 3) deepen SILC peer-to-peer learning and sharing of best practices; and 4) streamline and broaden stakeholder access to SILC-related information and resources. The anticipated overarching measurable outcome is that SILCs will utilize knowledge gained from training and technical assistance in their duties and responsibilities as they meet the requirements for a fully functioning, compliant SILC with no less than 80% of the SPILs initially approved by ACL. Expected unique products are: training in multiple formats, tutorials, FAQs, training manuals, peer communities of practice, professional certificate programs, on-demand webinars and video content, state-of-the-art SILC website, and a high profile social media presence.
