ACS RTCCL Office for People with Developmental Disabilities New York Direct Support Workforce Credentialing Program Comparative Analysis
Project Description:
The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) approached the Research and Training Center on Community Living (RTC) to complete a comparative analysis of five direct support workforce credentialing interventions being carried out across the state of New York. Given the varied nature of the workforce interventions and the timelines being followed in this project, this approach will identify similarities and differences among different workforce interventions used across the state. A combination of case studies and selected quantitative data were used. The aim of the project was to examine promising features of credentialing programs, and to make preliminary recommendations to enhance further credential efforts. Investments in credentialing and cost savings were examined, as well as interviews with direct support professionals and frontline supervisors who participated in the programs.
