Project Description:
People On the Go of Maryland is a strong statewide self advocacy group consisting of 150 members who are people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When the group first started it was very small and the main goal was to advise The Arc of Maryland on pertinent issues. People On the Go strives to empower people with intellectual and related disabilities to become their own leaders and to advocate for themselves. People On the Go strives to be a visible, equal voice and presence in statewide and national cross-disability coalitions working on advocacy and rights. Members of group have gained increased self-confidence through learning their rights. Allowing them to reach their life-long goal of self-sufficiency and making contributions to society.
