Need: What need does the project fill? In the United States, the rates of child maltreatment are increasingly common, and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities face higher rates than average. Overall goals and objectives: What are the main outcomes related to the project? The national SafeCare and Training Center is housed in the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development at Georgia State University and promotes an evidence-based family training model that reduces child maltreatment Unusual features: What makes this project unique? This is one of the few child maltreatment interventions with evidence backed by a randomized control trial. Expected benefits: How will this project help people? Applying the SafeCare model reduces the number of child maltreatment.
