Project Description:
The Georgetown UCEDD joined with the UCEDDs at the University of Southern California and Georgia State University, (referred to as the Consortium) and key stakeholders to develop a Diversity and Inclusion Training Action Plan (D&I-TAP). The Consortiums multi-level approach will be guided by the philosophy of meaningful inclusion, in combination with proven organizational and behavioral change strategies, specifically designed to increase the diversity and enhance the cultural and linguistic competence (CLC) of UCEDDs nationwide. Building on the stakeholder engagement process and recent work that resulted in the Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit, the Consortium will identify existing resources and strategies with demonstrated effectiveness in UCEDDs and the gaps in current knowledge, skills, and practices within the network. The D&I-TAP will build the capacity of network programs to embed widely accepted CLC values, policies, structures, and practices across the four UCEDD core functions of training, community service, research, and information dissemination, including a special focus on engaging unserved and underserved communities in the United States, its territories, and tribal communities. The D&I-TAP will be accessed through a project-developed website. Project Goal To research, develop, and disseminate a Diversity and Inclusion Training Action Plan (D&I-TAP), in collaboration with key stakeholders, for the national network of UCEDDs. Objectives 1. Conduct an environmental scan, structured interviews, and a vetting process of the extant training resources/materials used by UCEDDs focused on diversity, inclusion, cultural and linguistic competence, disparities, and disproportionality. 2. Develop, finalize, and disseminate findings from the environmental scan and offer recommendations for a National D&I-TAP in collaboration with key stakeholders (i.e., individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, UCEDDs, and D&I Action Team).
