GPC Sponsorship: Summit on Livable Communities EXP 6/30/17
Project Description:
We propose the development and offering of a Summit on Livable Communities for all Ages and Abilities, to be held in the spring or early summer of 2017. This conference will bring together participants from six Indiana communities that have conducted Advocates for Livable Communities training funded by the Governors Council from 2013-2016. Approximately 50 citizens with disabilities and 50 older adults have engaged in five full days of training in each community to learn about and advocate for livable community advances in their respective cities and towns. Reconvening them in a summative event to celebrate their achievements, identify lessons learned and incentivize further advocacy will cap the series and provide a base of learning for program replication. In addition, the workshop will be open to community partners identified as stakeholders in each community venue and other Hoosiers interested in learning more about advocacy for livable communities. We anticipate full attendance at 50-75 individuals.
