Navigating Student Success in the Pacific (NSSP)

NSSP will prepare teachers for students who are deaf and those with severe disabilities by 1) recruiting and retaining local scholars to lessen the critical shortage of specialized teachers in US-affiliated Pacific jurisdictions, 2) implementing an evidence-based preparation program, aligned with professional and local standards that address unique need of children on isolated islands and capitalizes on Pacific episteologies and resources, and 3) preparing specialized teachers with knowledge and skills to work with disadvantaged students from remote islands who are at risk of educational failure due to poverty, lack of education, and are English language learners.
