Project Description:
The mission of the Arkansas State Victim Assistance Academy will be to provide comprehensive, foundational training to professionals throughout Arkansas who routinely deal with victims of crime. This project will coordinate with the Crime Victims Assistance Association of Arkansas (CVAAA) Board and an academy steering committee that will be developed as part of the efforts. The initial purpose of the project entitled the Arkansas State Victim Assistance Academy Initiative is to build an infrastructure for the project consisting of dedicated staff time and a financial mechanism to support the effort. Additional tasks include the establishment of and coordinating of an academy steering committee to plan, provide and facilitate a weeklong comprehensive, academically based, fundamental education and training for victim assistance providers, victim advocates, criminal justice personnel, and allied professionals who routinely deal with crime victims to be held in late 2016 and again in 2017.
