Center:
Fiscal Year:
2017
Contact Information:
Project Description:
Need: The poverty rate for Greater New Orleans (GNO) is 27.2% and the economic situation for children birth to three is worse. Only 450 families were served by Early Head Start in GNO prior to this project. Goals: The overall goals of the Project are: 1) to increase access to high quality childcare for working families with young children in GNO, 2) build the capacity of community childcare providers to provide high quality services, and 3) ensure that children served in our Partnership sites enter school ready to learn. Unusual Features: This project is a PARTNERSHIP. The Community Childcare Partners we support continue to manage their programs while we assist them to train and retain a highly qualified staff, provide ancillary supports and services - and overall raise the quality of early learning for ALL of their children/families. Expected Benefits: See our goals above. In addition, it is our expectation that this project will improve the capacity of our Partners and others to provide high quality childcare to the children/families they serve
