National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health
Project Description:
Dedicated to helping states and communities discover, apply, and sustain innovative and collaborative solutions that improve the social, emotional, and behavioral well being of children and families.
We enhance and strengthen the work of states and communities as they strive to achieve comprehensive mental health delivery systems for children and families.
We focus on children from birth to adulthood, and their families. The Center encourages states and communities to consider creative public health approaches in building service delivery systems to address the full range of mental health promotion and interventions for children and their families. Our view includes children and youth with co-occurring problems - emotional disturbance along with substance abuse, developmental disabilities, or physical impairments.
The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health is located within the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development and is part of the Georgetown University Medical Center. This University affiliation affords a unique combination of policy, research, and clinical expertise that enriches our work. Our location in the heart of Washington D.C. provides a distinct advantage for our work at the national policy level, as we draw on the resources of many organizations.
