Project Description:
The Co-Teaching for Gap Closure [CT4GC] is a professional development initiative developed by the KY Dept of Education in 2012 to help close the achievement gap between students in Kentucky. It is comprised of four components; 1) Co-Teaching best practices, 2)Continuous Classroom Improvement, 3) Student Supports, and 4) ELA/Math Instruction Strategies. Sustainability is being built through a system of coaching from the state level down to the classroom level. The four components and the coaching networks, project infrastructure, and training modules are developed around the research based practices from such nationally known experts including Marilyn Friend, Robert Marzano, Stephanie Harvey and Jim Knight to name a few. The expected results will raise teachers skills and instructional practices to ultimately close the achievement gap between low and high performing students in KY.
