Texana Center: Autism Services
Project Description:
Texana Center is a 501(c)3 public, not for profit, organization that provides behavioral healthcare and developmental disabilities services to residents of a six county area that includes Austin, Colorado, Fort Bend, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton Counties.
Texana serves over 16,000 annually in its array of service programs that are located in each of the six counties, covering about 6,000 square miles. The center is designated by the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities Services as the Local Intellectual and Development Disability Authority (LIDDA). and by the Texas Department of State Health Services as the Local Mental Health Authority. Texana Center maintains a large performance contract with each of the state agencies listed above, and uses state general revenue funds to provide services under those contracts on a discounted basis to those who cannot afford to pay the full cost of services. The center also provides services to those with Medicaid, private insurance, and managed care, and is the largest provider of Home and Community-based Services in Texas. Texana Center is a member of The Texas Council of Community Centers, the National Council for Behavioral Health and Mental Health Corporations of America.
