Project Description:
The project will offer a two-week workshop, which explores various services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Illinois, for professionals visiting from Japan. Upon completion of the workshop, the project will also assist participants to find the individual placement sites for shadowing staff members of community human service agencies in the Chicago area and provide oversight during the period of their internship. An overall goal of the workshop is to assist them in understanding the historical development and current status of intellectual and developmental disabilities services in Illinois as well as the United States. Particular attention will be given to introduce a variety of community based services available for adults and children with disabilities and their families in Illinois.
