LEND: Transitioning Together Effectiveness Study
Project Description:
The goal of this project is to disseminate intervention research findings by training clinicians to implement the research-based Transitioning Together intervention, an intervention for adolescents with ASD and their families which was developed and evaluated as part of our research program at the Waisman Center at UW-Madison. Our primary target audience for dissemination are clinicians who specialize in ASD and who want to offer an evidence-based service for youth with ASD and their families during the transition to adulthood. For this project, as noted above, we are beginning dissemination with clinicians in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio. These partners are an ideal target audience for training and coaching in the Transitioning Together model as they are interdisciplinary practitioners who specialize in developmental disabilities and already regularly serve adolescents with ASD in clinical settings.
We also note that all three of our partner institutions (UW-Madison, UMN, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center(CCHMC)) (1) have LEND programs, (2) are members of the Great Lakes LEND Collaborative, and (3) will include LEND trainees in their teams. This project will make us well-positioned to reach out to other members of the Great Lakes LEND collaborative (LEND programs at the Nisonger Center at The Ohio State University, the Riley Child Development Center at Indiana University, and The University of Illinois at Chicago) for future dissemination efforts.
