WHAS Crusade for Children
Project Description:
The Grant will fund a distribution and training program to disseminate the UK Centers materials throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The greatest concentrationabout a thirdof families of children with Down syndrome and healthcare practitioners reside in the Louisville metropolitan area. As further broken down in Section 3, the funding will provide for a copy of the written materials for all obstetric professionals who could deliver a diagnosis to mothers with a child with Down syndrome. As an ancillary (non-grant funded activity) we also intend to provide training for the Down syndrome support organizations identified by name in KRS 211.192, including Down Syndrome of Louisville, the states largest support group. This training will establish a network of representatives throughout the Commonwealth who are in regular contact with their area practitioners to provide re-supply of materials and to serve as trusted referral sources for patients receiving a positive result
