Project Description:
This project discusses and explores how The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act or ACA) affects people with disabilities. One part of the project describes the current situation of policy options, implementation efforts at the state level, and future policy issues from the perspective of people with disabilities. To this end, we will analyze rules and regulations, review research and policy reports, and identify issues highly relevant to people with disabilities by discussing central aspects of the legislation with experts. A second part of the project explores how people with disabilities are affected by the ACA. Through interviews with representatives of the disability community, we will seek to better understand how people with disabilities interact with health care marketplaces and health navigators and what kinds of barriers for receiving adequate health care benefits they experience.
