NEED: Pre-service interdisciplinary training is a necessary component for professionals to be ethical and effective in their future practice. The HDCIT/ArkLaMiss Collaborative LEND is designed to provide trainees with experiences to enable them to become effective leaders in their own disciplines and competently apply knowledge and skills to support persons with developmental and other disabilities and their families to achieve their desired outcomes. GOALS & OBJECTIVES: Long-term trainees will develop knowledge and abilities to enable them to be change agents and proponents of interdisiciplinary practice post-graduation. Trainees will be prepared to effectively participate in an interdisciplinary process of designing, evaluating, and implementing programs, and to effectively work in interdisciplinary settings including but not limited to: clinics, schools, family homes, other community locations, and universities. FEATURES: The ArkLAMiss LEND is a collaborative effort between the Universit of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, LSU HSC,and Southern Mississippi University. Trainees have the opportunity to learn from a diverse faculty base across all 3 institutions via video-conferencing. Trainees and faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with each other across sites on various projects, case studies, and educational didactics. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: To graduate between 5-7 long-term trainees each year from LSU HSC schools of Allied Health, Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine. Trainees will complete projects in the areas of leadership and reasearch and will be showcased in and outside of the LSU HSC.
