Project Description:
This one month intensive therapy intervention will take place in a fun camp atmosphere on the UCLA campus. Ambulatory children with spastic CP will be invited to participate in daily afternoon sessions. This was the second year of this research performed in collaboration with the Brain Mapping Center, Dept. of Neurology and the Dept. of Pediatrics. Children received brain magnetic resonance imaging and extensive laboratory evaluations before and after receiving 45 hours of intensive therapy over a 15 day period. Counselors were UCLA students interested in medical careers. In addition to specifically designed exercises and play activities to promote selective motor control, advanced technologies such as ankle robot, knee exercise machine and gaming technology were utilized.
