Project Description:
Achieving Employment & Health Goals with Digital Technology is a project funded by UnitedHealthcare. The purpose of the iPad Training Project is to help people with disabilities learn to use technology so they can develop job skills, get a job, or monitor health conditions. This project will prioritize persons with mental health issues or head injury, but people with all disabilities are eligible. ATK staff from each of the 5 AT Access Sites (Oakley, Salina, Wichita, Parsons, and Topeka areas) will work with 15 individuals with disabilities for a total of 75 people. Individuals who are selected will receive an iPad Air2 and attend four workshops teaching them how to use the iPad to achieve employment, health, organization, and other goals. Participants need to: 1) have a disability or chronic health condition (priority to mental health, head injury); 2) have an employment goal; and 3) be willing to attend all 4 workshops held in their region. Workshops will be held in Oakley, Salina, Wichita, Parsons, and Topeka areas. Personal goals will address employment issues. Sample goals include: search for jobs online, complete online applications; keep appointments on the iPad calendar; manage time and task lists; or manage stress. Each person will identify two or three goals they want to work on during the four workshops. Individuals who complete the four workshops and are able to complete the basic tasks assigned in each workshop will keep their iPads. Data is reported on participant demographics, types of targeted goals, and employment results.
