Project Description:
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability and validity of the selected National Core Indicators Adult Consumer Survey (NCI- ACS) Background Section items to feel confident in using these variables in analyses and reporting for service providers, disability advocates and policy makers at local, state and national levels. The proposed study will be based on two premises: 1. Survey item validity cannot be established before the responses to items are found to be reliable; and 2. Reponses to survey items are considered valid if they accurately measure the intended construct. Research Question: What is the validity and source reliability of the selected NCI-ACS Background Section items gathered across multiple sources of data in three participating NCI states? The survey item reliability and validity will be evaluated using responses from primary (person with an intellectual or developmental disability - IDD) and secondary data sources (proxy respondents or administrative records) that will then be compared to a "gold standard" established for each item.
