Arkansas Navigator Coalition
Project Description:
Arkansas has over half a million people who are uninsured, with about half of that group eligible for the Medicaid expansion and about helf eligible for premium tax credits. With many of the elgible persons ill informed about the Marketplace, there is a great need to assist citizens of the state with information and with enrollment in qualified health plans. The UCEDD convened a Coalition to apply for funds for a navigator program for the state. The Coalition agreed to coordinate its efforts with those of the state Insurance Department and their In-person Assister program. Members of the Coalition include advocacy groups, developmental disabilities provider organizations, a legal aid organization, and health care providers. The UCEDD coordinates the work of ten navigators at seven agencies through contracts and an additional fifteen navigators who are employed at the UCEDD. The Coalition also coordinates its work with the Arkansas Hospital Association.
