Project Description:
The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Training project will provide training on how to conduct a functional behavior analysis and develop a positive behavior intervention plan for staff working in community-based non-profit organizations. It is widely know that the single factor that causes an individual with disabillities to lose his/her job, placement, and/or opportunity to be in the community is the presence of challenging behaviors. It has been determined that many staff delivering services and supports to IWDD do not have the skill set to determine the cause of behavior or respond in a proactive, positive way to those behaviors. This training project will attempt to build that skill set by providing practical, participatory training on the principles and actions needed. By the end of the training, participants will have been guided through each and every step of developing a PBS plan for an individual with whom they work.
