Project Description:
The Idaho Help website (www.idahohelp.info) is an online directory of services, resources, and information designed to help individuals who have a disability and their families locate resources and supports in their own communities. The website is a grassroots effort to combine formal and informal resources that families and community members have found useful and make them accessible in one central location. The site has four dynamic components, which are updated regularly. The components include: a) a statewide database of over 12,000 state, regional, and local resources b) an extensive list of websites on a wide range of family and disability topics c) an announcement section containing information specifically chosen to help support families who have a member with a disability and d) one central access point for websites that maintain a database on family related topics. Resources included in Idaho Help were gathered through a series of national and state funded grants over the last seven years. Local families, interventionists, teachers, and advocates have recommended many of resources within the database. Each community develops resources based on needs and funding availability within their region. Therefore, a list of resources within a community is unique to that location.
