Mortality Review and Reporting: New York Office for People with DD

Project Description:

In response to a requirement from CMS that NY OPWDD develop mortality reporting and review system statewide, CDDER at Shriver Center has been providing technical assistant to develop a statewide mortality review system and begin public reporting of mortality data. CDDER developed a model for mortality review, comprising of central office review of all deaths, and the establishment of regional and a central committee to review deaths that meet criteria for review. The purpose of this mortality reveiw system is to idenify systemic issues related to quality of care for people with DD and to idenify areas for quality improvement.
