Project Description:
Working with the Developmental Disabilities Section in the UAMS Department of Pediatrics, Partners provides interdisciplinary training on neurodevelopmental disabilities to graduate students from three universities in central Arkansas, as well as trainees from the UCEDDs in Louisiana and Mississippi. Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) trainees select from 22 clinical options in which interdisciplinary teams are formed. They also participate in classes using problem-based learning, conduct research activities, and perform a leadership capstone project. Members of the state Title V program receive continuing education as a part of the program. Members of the LEND faculty train regional providers to screen and diagnose autism.
