Augmentative Communication Research, Education, Awareness, & Assistance
Project Description:
Individuals with disabilities whose speech is difficult to understand are at a great risk of being isolated and segregated as well as having their abilities misinterpreted. With the proper tools, individuals with speech disabilities can achieve great things. These tools enable people with speech disabilities to attain higher degrees of independence, show their true abilities, demonstrate competence, expand capacity to learn, become employed, and participate
in the community.
IHDD offers research, education, awareness, and assistance to organizations and individuals who serve people with communication disabilities as well as families and individuals themselves. This is done through providing person-centered, non-clinically focused technical assistance, education, and awareness enabling providers and others to support peoples' true inclusion in community life.
