Project Description:
Arkansas Can Do initiated through Partners for Inclusive Communities Consumer Committee, is a collaborative group of individuals with disabilities, family members, and representatives from multiple agencies and organizations. The purpose of Arkansas Can Do, Inc. is to promote a positive worldview of individuals with disabilities through education and collaboration. The theme of the media campaign is "Believe Achieve." Products include four 30 second Public Service Announcements, two posters, a display, educational workshops, 30 min. educational DVD-"It's Common Courtesy", cookbook-"We Believe You Can Cook", T-Shirts, brochures, bookmarks, and stickers. The committee activities are funded through in-kind contributions as well as small grants received by participating organizations.
Participating organizations include: Partners for Inclusive Communities/University of Arkansas at Fayetteville,Partners Community Advisory Committee; Arkansas People First; AR Governor's Developmental Disabilities Council; AR Rehabilitation Services; Disability Rights Arkansas; Department of Human Services, Divisions of Developmental Disabilities Services, Behavioral Health Services, and Aging and Adult Services; DHS Arkansas Service Commission; Arkansas Disability Coalition; Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (APRIL), Advocates for Real Life; Little Rock Civitan Club; Arc of Arkansas; and Arkansas Department of Health, and University of AR for Medical Sciences.
