Camp Leg Power an Intensive Physical Therapy Intervention for Children with Cerebral Palsy

Project Description:
This one month intensive therapy intervention will take place in a fun camp atmosphere on the UCLA campus. Ambulatory children with spastic CP will be invited to participate in daily afternoon sessions. A commitment of 15 sessions is required for enrollment. The intervention will consist of activities to promote skilled isolated movement of the toes, foot, ankle, knee and hip. Movement force, velocity, and degree of selectivity will be progressed. Some of the exercises will use ankle robot and a specialized machine for knee exercise. We will also utilize gaming technology. Group games and sports will take place in an outdoor play yard. Brain imaging and physical therapy evaluations will take place before and after the intervention.
