Project Description:
Throughout California, many children with developmental and behavioral disorders are not screened and therefore are not detected at young ages. The delays in identification of problems precludes early intervention. This First 5 San Mateo County project seeks to improve rates of screening in the county through education of providers, establishment of a demonstration site, and technical assistance to providers who are embarking on screening. It also provides an interdisciplinary, interagency forum for discussion of children with special health care needs whose services must be coordinated across multiple agencies.
