Gait Analysis Following Endoprosthetic Reconstruction

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2014
Contact Information:
Project Description:
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of tumor resection and endoprostheses on gait biomechanics, muscle strength and energy cost of walking. Oxygen cost data will be collected to determine the amount of energy expenditure during walking. Biomechanical gait parameters as well as knee joint strength will be collected. These data will be compared to across four groups: internal hemipelvectomy, proximal femoral replacement, distal femoral replacement and tibial replacement. The effect of other clinical factors will be considered. The average number of steps taken/day will also be assessed for each participant.
