Health Insurance Exchange
Project Description:
Arkansas declined the option to run the health insurance marketplace for the state. They are, however, pursuing a federal-state partnership. Under contract with the state Department of Insurance, the UCEDD designed and implemented a plan to recruit and dialogue with diverse stakeholders including consumers, providers, agencies, and policymakers to both inform stakeholders about the development of the Health Insurance Marketplace and receive feedback from stakeholders about their ideas, concerns and potential barriers to implementing an acceptable, accessible, and cost efficient health insurance marketplace in AR. Activities include two programs on the state PBS affiliate to provide information and for viewers to call in with questions, informational meetings in all 75 counties of the state, and 8 regional meetings with insurance agents to help them understand their role with the marketplace.
