Project Description:
This project will provide a plan designed to advance understanding of the history of disability in Indiana. Outcomes include: improved understanding by all Hoosiers of the past experiences, conditions and contributions of persons with developmental and other disabilities and their advocates over the period of our statehood; knowledge by all Hoosiers of historical changes in cultural attitudes towards persons with disabilities and their advocates and the associated public and institutional responses to the needs, assets, and perceived threats associated with disability; an opportunity for all residents of Indiana to keep history alive through continuing public discussion and reflection on the subject of disability and community.
