Evidence-Based Supported Employment Training and Technical Assistance-Phase II
Project Description:
In Phase I, Evidence-Based Supported Employment Training and Technical Assistance was provided to Georgia's DBHDD Mental Health Supported Employment contracted providers. Using a mixture of web- based and face-to-face instruction, Supported Employment programs
received introductory training and technical assistance to improve fidelity, increase consumer-specific job development, and sustain workers with mental illness in jobs of their choosing. All
eight of the core principles within the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model were taught, tested and reinforced through the use of a pre and post-test and assigned Response Questions for
each module.
In Phase II, there three major areas of focus:
I) Continue access to a revised (somewhat similar to Phase I) IPS training for new SE staff. Offer quarterly enrollment opportunities. Trainees will have access to IHDD staff to ensure pre and post testing, response question feedback and interaction with
other trainees.
2) Provide access to Subject Matter Experts related to specific IPS principles (offered onsite and via webinars). This portion of the scope of work should be considered as "ongoing training and technical assistance" to Georgia's 22 SE MH providers. Much of this content will be directly related to the "Identified Areas of Additional Training" noted in the Phase I report.
3) Develop and implement pilot projects in DBHDD regions in conjunction with GVRA. focusing on training VR counselors, treatment teams and SE providers in delivering IPS employment services within a collaborative VR-MH setting. This will also provide an opportunity to more fully engage employers through jointly sponsored job development.
