Child-Parent Psychotherapy and Developmental Disability
Project Description:
This research study evaluates the applicability of Child-Parent Psychotherapy, a trauma-informed, relationship-based mental health treatment for children aged birth to five, to children with developmental disabilities and/or medical trauma. Need: CPP is an evidence-based treatment for young children exposed to trauma, but has not been evaluated with children with DD. Goals: Evaluate the effectiveness of CPP with children with DD, and identify modifications to the model to improve the match with DD. Unusual features: Application and extension of an EBP to children with DD. Expected benefits: Improve access to mental health services for young children with DD.
