Project Description:
This project seeks to support the emotional and social needs of adult brothers and sisters of people with IDD in Ohio. The program offers information and referral services, as well as guidance regarding family-specific issues of planning and problem-solving. The project offers an annual statewide conference with outstanding speakers from across the country, many of who are siblings themselves. The project also engages self-advocates and provides specific programs for them in conjunction with the conference. Ohio was the first state in the U.S. to have an adult sibling organization and remains a national leader in the area of sibling advocacy and outreach.
