Early detection and prevention of developmental delays.
Project Description:
Early Discovery is a large grant funded by The Childrens Trust. The focus of this project is to develop a mechanism to work with children who do not meet part B or Part C criteria yet display behaviors of concern that affect their functioning at home and/or at school. This is an innovative interdisciplinary program designed to prevent children with mild delays from developing more serious disorders as they enter school age. Our results to date have been impressive and we have found that our early intervention efforts have led to decreased placement in special education services as well as improved speech, behavior, and motor functioning.
