Path to Independence VISTA Project

Project Description:

The new AmeriCorps*VISTA Path to Independence Project is a collaboration of the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED), the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada (DSNNN), and Best Buddies Nevada (BBNV), with the NCED serving as the main sponsor. The project addresses the high incidence of unemployment, underemployment, poverty, and isolation often experienced by people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Four VISTA members will work in the three programs. All four VISTA members will be housed at the NCED at UNR.
