Autism Workshops for General Pediatricians & Family Practitioners
Project Description:
The workshops will provide up to date information about autism screening, diagnosis, treatment, current research and community resources to general pediatricians and family practitioners in the communities surrounding Children's Hospital Los Angeles, in order to promote early identifications of children who may have an ASD diagnosis and referral for evaluation and services. It is apparent from the types of referrals we receive, delays in referrals, and stories told by parents about their concerns that were not addressed by their child's primary care doctor, that many providers in our community are not current in their knowledge of signs of autism, or referral sources for evaluation and treatment. Our goal is to reach 100 community providers through educational forums, utilizing community hospital pediatric committee meetings, grand ground and other gathers of providers.
