Intermediate Interdisciplinary Training and Experiences
Project Description:
NEED: HDC has a unique opportunity to embed interdisciplinary and family/person-centered perpectives into the medical/health professions education process within the LSU Health Sciences Center by providing Interdisciplinary and Leadership eduction experiences to students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff. In addition, we attempt to support interdisciplinary and family/person-centered practices in the community.
OVERALL GOALS/OBJECTIVES: To ensure that medical/health professionals are exposed to interdisciplinary thinking/practice and family/person-centered philosophies in a way that impacts their future professional values and practices.
FEATURES: UCEDD faculty and staff make presentations highlighting the role and strategies for person-centered and interdisciplinary thinking, planning and practice in a variety of venues including but not limited to: courses, seminars, internship/residency programs, as well as at professional, advocacy, self-advocacy association meetings and confernces. In addition, UCEDD faculty and staff develop and dissminate training materials and resources such as on-line modules, webinars, brouchures, webposts, and other printed materials.
EXPECTED BENEFITS: Medical/health practitioners, educators, and community service providers will incorporate interdisciplinary and family/person-centered perspetives into their practice.
