Project Description:
The Tennessee Kindred Stories of Disability Project was created to educate legislators, students, and the general public about the experiences of individuals with disabilities and their families in TN. Stories can be powerful tools that educate and encourage systems change. The Kindred Stories Project provides a collection of stories from TN families in an online database that is searchable by disability, county, topic, age range, and storyteller perspective. Stories may be submitted through the website or families may be interviewed by students enrolled in courses at Vanderbilt University and Belmont University as part of the service learning component of the project. The project also aims to aid local disability agencies in collecting stories from their constituents.
