Project Description:
CDD will provide lifespan family consultation and support, to include providing information, referrals and individualized consultation.
Activities:
1) Families of persons with ASD, both those who are receiving services and those who are not, will receive face to face family support, information and referral, technical assistance and recommendations on working with and supporting their family member with ASD.
2) The CONTRACTOR will help families through the system by the use of regional Autism experts (Regional Parent Coordinator's).
3) The CONTRACTOR will work with the Regional Parent Coordinators to identify and share resources available in each community.
4) The CONTRACTOR will provide information about Autism through presentations, trainings, the CDD Resource Center, newsletters, mailing lists, telephone line and web page.
5) The Contractor will announce training opportunities and regional activities for parents as well as contribute articles regarding current practices in the field through the collaborative NMAS(New Mexico Autism Society)/SWAN(SouthWest Autism Network) newsletter and other mailing lists/list serves.
6) The Contractor will collaborate with community organzations and advocacy groups to provide Autism specific expertise as necessary.
7) Link parents to local, state and national resources for ongoing support.
8) Enhance the connection between Regional Parent Coordinators and NMAS to increase NMAS's visibility and membership within state.
9) Contract with NMAS to provide Autism awareness statewide which may include PSA's, print material and/or poster development.
10) Collaborate with the Act Early State Plan initiative for children and with the Autism medical home initiative.
